Yealmpton Community Association was formed in 1985, initially to establish our splendid Community Centre, to maintain it and manage its use. Whilst we continue to look after the premises and hire out rooms, we also host an increasing number of projects of benefit to Yealmpton and our surrounding parishes. As an established registered charity, new YCA projects can get going quickly without the need to form new committees and find people willing to take responsibility for all the administration, accounts, statutory compliance etc. etc. which often burdens fledging organisations.
The YCA is managed by its Trustees and a General Committee comprising elected Honorary Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, a co-opted Safeguarding Officer and co-opted representatives of each project.
Projects are established from time to time to serve the needs of the community and each operates with its own team and its own budget. They report to the General Committee and have delegated authority to operate within agreed Terms of Reference.
